Mary Ellen Mark is American photographer known for her photojournalism, portraiture, and social documentary photography. She has had 16 collections of her work published and has been exhibited at galleries and museums worldwide. She has received numerous accolades, including three Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Awards and three fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts.
James Natchwey is a rare combination of war photographer and artist. He has been awarded the Overseas Press Club's Robert Capa Gold Medal five times. In 2003, he was injured by a grenade in an attack on his convoy while serving as a Time contributing correspondent in Baghdad, from which he has made a full recovery. On February 1, 2014, Nachtwey was grazed by a bullet on his left leg whilst photographing the Thailand political protests
Eugene Smith was a Life magazine photographer in the 1940s and 50s, Smith produced some of the most memorable photo essays in the history of photography, including Nurse Midwife and Spanish Village. A photo he shot of his children walking hand-and-hand into a garden was the lead photo in the famous Family of Man exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York City. .
Sebastio Salgado is a Brazilian social documentary photographer and photojournalist. He has traveled in over 100 countries for his photographic projects. Most of these have appeared in numerous press publications and books. Touring exhibitions of this work have been presented throughout the world. Longtime gallery director Hal Gould considers Salgado to be the most important photographer of the early 21st century..
